Size of School :  Our school is big enough.  It consists of 3 storey buildings, it has 27 classes, 9 classes for each level (level 10th, 11th and 12th)

The Profile of Senior High School 1 Bogor, Indonesia

1. Background of School

The Principal and Staff in the front of the school building

      SMAN 1 Bogor (Senior High School 1 Bogor), which is commonly called SMANSA, was established on April 2^nd, 1946 by Prof.Dr. Garnadi Prawiro Sudirjo (who was famous as the Father of Biology at that time, and becoming the first principal of SMAN 1 Bogor).

       First time it was built, the name was SPMA (Sekolah Pertanian Menengah Atas/The School of Agriculture), it was the first and the only high school at that time, located in Jl.Paledang No.17, Bogor, West Java. The location was actually Mr. Gunawan Rusmiputro’s residence, of whose daughter, Widowati, was the first female graduate who got the scholar or academician degree holder from Institute of Agriculture Bogor (IPB).

      On April 2^nd, 1950 the school was relocated to current location on Jl.Ir.H.Juanda No.16 Bogor 16122, West Java, Indonesia. According to the history, this location was once used as MULO (The junior high school in Dutch colonialization era). When a guerrilla war took place, some Indonesian fighters succeeded to conquer this place. That’s why the building has historical value from the Dutch era.

      In 1952, Prof.Dr.Garnadi was substituted by Mr.Yatmo. In the next development, the curriculum was divided into 2 streams, SMA 1 which has major A and C, and SMA 2 which has major B. So there were 2 high schools at that time, which had 2 principals but at the same location.

      Finally, at the end of 1994/1995, the name ‘SMANSA’ was changed into ‘SMUNSA’ based on the curriculum 1994. And then, based on the next curriculum (curriculum 2004) the name was back into the former name ‘SMANSA’. It is still the best school in Bogor until now, either in academic or non academic achievements. It should be the best as its motto “One Step Forward”.

      The school now has 27 classes, for the first grade (tenth level) consists of 9 classes, the second grade (eleventh level) consists of 9 classes, and the third grade (twelfth level) consists of 9 classes. Most classes (25 classes) have already become the internationally standardized classes.

      The school has also 1 language laboratory, 1 computer laboratory which consists of 25 computers and 1 science laboratory. It has also other 21 computers for administration business and teachers’ necessity. So the whole number of computers in SMAN 1 Bogor is 46 computers.

      The number of the whole students for this year in SMAN 1 Bogor is 1170 students, and the numbers of teachers is 73 teachers, and the number of administration staff is 23 persons.

To support the tradition of gaining achievements and having a noble character based on religion and technology to be internationally standardized school

B.   Mission :

1.    To conduct teaching and learning process effectively and innovatively

       in increasing professional service to be internationally standardized 
       school

4.    To spread out the spirit of democracy in guiding the students to gain the

NAME OF OUR COMMUNITY:  Bogor City, West Java

As a part of West Java Province, Bogor City is the nearest territory to the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. It is about 60 km to Jakarta and 120 km to Bandung. Bogor City is known as a rainy town for the amount of rainfall is very high. Bogor city is surrounded by Mount Salak, Mount Pangrango and Mount Gede. Bogor city has many old and unique historical buildings and scientific tourism asset such as Bogor Botanical Garden. The garden is situated in between two big rivers, Ciliwung and Cisadane. 

The width of Bogor City area is 11.850 hectares or 0.27 percents of width of the West Java Province. Administratively, this city consists of 6 (six) Sub-districts, they are the South of Bogor Sub-district, the East of Bogor, the west of Bogor, the North of Bogor, the Centre of Bogor and Tanah Sareal, and covering 68 (sixty-eight) villages.

This City lies on 106 480 East Longitude and 6 360 South Longitude along with the minimum average attitude of 190 meters, maximum 350 meters, slope declivity about 0-3%, 4-15%, 16-30% and over 40%, surrounded by mount Salak, Pangrango and Gede. From Jakarta the Capital City, the distance is + 60 km away.Bogor city also known as “The Rainy City”, as the city has high rainfall rate 3,500 to 4,000 millimeter / year. The City's altitude is about 190-330 meters above the sea level, causing the average temperature is 260 C 21,8 o C, the humidity + 70%.
